CARD CATALOG VANITY

Master Bath After.jpg

Our client is a librarian by trade and collector of all things vintage so she already had some card catalogs in storage.  Here's how we got the look:

1. Attached the steel legs to the bottom of the vanity with screws.

2. Added a 1x10 board along the bottom that sits on top of the legs and painted it black to match the steel legs.

3. Cut the middle drawers to size to make sure they would close once the plumbing was installed.  We ended up having to cut most of the middle drawers down.

4. Installed quartz countertop in Fashion White.

5. Installed the vessel sink and faucet and tested to make sure everything worked well.

6. The card catalog already had an aged look with polyurethane so nothing further was needed.

Quick Tips:

  • Make sure you have a plumber who is willing to work with you.  These type of projects take a little creative thinking to make them work.

  • Like most old houses, we have baseboard along the bottom of the walls.  Be sure to install this after the vanity is installed careful to butt up against the legs.

  • The steel legs we ordered are no longer available but we've linked a similar option.  Just be sure to order the right height based on overall desired height minus the sink, countertop, and vanity base.

SMALL CARD CATALOG VANITY

Similar to the larger vanity, here's how we got the look.

1. Attached the hairpin legs to the bottom of the vanity using short screws.

2. The card catalog vanity had previously been painted and we liked the color.

3. Cut the middle drawers to size to make sure they would close once the plumbing was installed.

4. We used rough cut cedar and planed them down to get a smooth finish.  Using a Kreg Jig and wood blue, we assembled the 2x6 boards together then sanded, stained, and applied two coats of polyurethane to seal them.

5. Installed the vessel sink and faucet and tested to make sure everything worked well.
