The Little Gray Bungalow
Built in 1925 ~ Renovated in 2005 ~ Heather's 2nd Personal Home in HH

This cute little house was across the street and up five houses from Heather's first personal home in Hampton Heights and she already had her eye on it when it went up for sale. Moving quickly to purchase the home one of the first orders of business was to remove the red aluminum siding to reveal the cedar shake siding that had been well preserved underneath.
Inside was a case of 60's paneling everywhere so that was the first thing to go along with gutting the kitchen and only bathroom in the house. The kitchen layout was tweaked a little by moving the doorways to allow for more cabinetry and so that the back door was right off the kitchen. Formerly a 3 bedroom/1 bath house, Heather took the middle bedroom and existing bathroom, reworked the floor plan, and was able to create two bathrooms along with a large and spacious walk-in master closet.
From there it was simply all about the details - installing missing baseboards and picture molding, hanging new ceilings and repairing the walls, and refinishing the beautiful original hardwood floors that were under the carpet. This house served Heather well for just under nine years, the longest house lived in to date.
